Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Happy early Valentines Day ladies and gents! The reason I'm posting in advance is because I thought this palette would make for a great valentines day gift. Truth be told, I've been meaning to write up a post on this since I first got my hands on it last year. I even took pictures for a blog post and everything. But with the redesign of my blog, the old photos didn't really fit, not to mention they was taken with my aunt's shabby old hand-me-down compact camera.

Thanks to my impulsive years, I've accumulated quite a few eyeshadow palettes - sadly, very few of which I still continue to use. This Modern Renaissance Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills however, seem to be one of the few exceptions to the rule. On days when I'm not sporting a 3rd-year Uni student mop, this is one of the few eyeshadow palettes I'll dust off my shelf to have a little fun with.

Possibly one of the best thing about Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows in general is that they are so frickin' pigmented. Quite a feat considering especially with the matte colours (with the exception of a shimmery pink and gold highlight, all the shades in this palette are matte). What makes this palette special though is definitely its colour selection. We all know sunset oranges and browns are all the rage right now and this baby provides a good 6 variations of them! On lazy days I just love layering up the browns and add a little gold shimmer right at the end. Though used less often, the plums and pinks are also stunning when you want to do something special "I'm looking at you, Valentines". And of course, even the brightest pinks and oranges are ridiculously smooth and pigmented.

The one thing I will say is that it's rather lacking in the glitter department, so if that's more your cup of tea I'd steer away. But, if you're just looking for matte eyeshadows and don't require any shimmer beyond a little highlighting (or like me you already have a shit ton of shimmer eyeshadows), then this is the palette for you.

Packaging wise, it comes in a sturdy cardboard base with a velvet/felt material on the top (think Naked 1). While it does tend to accumulate dust, the shade of pink is absolutely stunning and I love displaying it on my dresser. And a bonus - they also included a brush of which one side is actually usable! (Which of course I somehow forgot to include in the photos but its good okay trust me)

The Modern Renaissance Palette retails for £43 on Cult Beauty.
