Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion Review

If there is one base product that will make me swoon, it's the Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion. By this point, I am such a big fangirl, I can't even pretend to judge it impartially. When they call it "perfecting", they are not exaggerating. I literally emit an audible gasp after I finish applying this. It claims to have a light to medium coverage, but don't let that fool you, it is literally the most natural looking, "perfect-skin-day" base I have ever used.

To apply, I just use the cushion pad they provided and dab it all across my face (for lighter coverage, or for those of you who prefer applying with brushes, I sometimes use the Real Techniques Stippling Brush as well). I've applied one layer in the picture above, and while you can still see my blemishes, it gave me a really nice glow and evened out my redness. Although, I must say the real magic happens when you see it in person. I kid you not when I say that it somehow manages to erase my pores and give me the most smooth looking complexion, while making it look like I haven't applied any makeup. It's not photo-perfect by any means, but if all you're after is a regular light-weight day-to-day foundation, I cannot recommend this enough.

The product itself is quite lightweight and creamy-feeling. You don't really feel it on your skin (another reason why I absolutely adore it), and the compact is so cute and pearly I love it. Also, did I mention that it has SPF 50+/PA+++, which is absolutely incredible to have in a foundation, and another reason why it makes such a great choice for an everyday foundation.

Sulwhasoo, if you haven't heard of it, is possibly one of the most premium Korean skincare lines out there. Its creams and face oils easily worth over £50 a pop, think of it like the La Mer or Dior of the East. This BB cushion though is in no way as expensive as it sounds. Coming at $60 USD, it also comes with a free refill, so you're essentially getting two for the price of one. (I've had my cushion for two years now and have still not yet gone through the first compact)

Their cushions comes in a few varieties - the original Perfecting Cushion (the one I have), and the Perfecting Cushion Whitening, and Perfecting Cushion Intense. After swatching the whitening version, I've concluded that it's simply more pink-based, whereas the original perfecting cushion is distinctly more yellow-based. I've yet to try the intense version so I can't give you any feedback on that yet, though the website says it simply has added anti-aging benefits.

Shade-wise I am matched with #25 deep beige, which I'm sure you've realised isn't that deep at all. That's the one downfall in Korean foundations, is that their colour range is notoriously limited. This line has 6 shades, with mine being the second-to-darkest. On the other hand, if you do happen to match up with their shades, it's a whole new amazing world of makeup you'll be discovering.

Buy it here on Yesstyle for £47.67
Psst. there's a limited edition packaging for the whitening version that is also amazing; on Yesstyle for £46.96.
